Ilford Today is an independent news and information site for Ilford and the London Borough of Redbridge. We report what the public record shows and keep the practical local pages accurate.
The borough
Ilford, Seven Kings, Goodmayes and Loxford in the south; Gants Hill, Barkingside, Newbury Park, Clayhall, Aldborough Hatch and Hainault through the middle; and Wanstead, Woodford Green and South Woodford on the Epping Forest side. Around 322,000 people live here, and the difference between one end of the borough and the other is considerable in housing, income and what people need from the council. We cover all of it, by name.
What we publish
Reporting drawn from the record, and reference pages for the practical questions. The record means Redbridge Council’s planning register and committee papers, licensing notices, police.uk crime data, HM Land Registry sold prices, Food Standards Agency hygiene ratings, Environment Agency flood warnings for the Roding, and company filings in The Gazette. The reference pages mean bins, parking and council tax bands, checked against what the council itself publishes.
How we work
Named source on every fact, linked so you can read the original. Where a document is unclear, we say it is unclear rather than guessing at what was meant. We use software to help watch the sources and draft routine updates, which is how a small site keeps pace with a borough this size, but nothing is invented and anything sensitive is checked by a person before publication.
